Early Trending Bowl Game Odds

Dec. 28
Fiesta Bowl
(2) Ohio State (13-0) vs. (3) Clemson (13-0)
at 8:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: Clemson -2.5
Total: 63

Despite being ranked third, defending champion Clemson ran the table for the second consecutive season. No. 2 Ohio State needed a second half comeback to take down Wisconsin in the Big Ten title tilt. There’s a reason the Tigers are slight favorites. Clemson has experience on their side and the edge in coaching, though Ryan day has been very impressive in his first full season leading the Buckeyes. I like Clemson in a high-scoring shootout.

Dec. 28
Peach Bowl
(1) LSU (13-0) vs. (4) Oklahoma (12-1)
at 4:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: LSU -13
Total: 76

Top-ranked LSU has been seriously impressive in running the table this season while beating the likes of elite championship-hopeful opponents like Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Georgia. Oklahoma narrowly got past Baylor 30-23 in an overtime thriller last weekend to improve to 5-0 over their last five. The Sooners have a Heisman contender in Jalen Hurts, but the Tigers have the Heisman winner in Joe Burrow. LSU answer the call once again and covers the chalk as a nearly double-digit favorite in the process.

Jan. 1
Sugar Bowl
Baylor (11-2) vs. Georgia (11-2)
at 8:45 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: Georgia -7.5
Total: 42.5

Baylor blew their outside chance to potentially steal a playoff berth by falling against Oklahoma for the second time this season, 30-23 in an exciting overtime Big 12 championship affair. Georgia got completely overwhelmed in their stunning 37-10 SEC championship loss against top-ranked LSU. While the Bears aren’t nearly as explosive offensive as LSU, Georgia has its own issues on that side of the ball. Baylor covers while challenging for the outright win!

Jan. 1
Rose Bowl
Wisconsin (10-3) vs. Oregon (11-2)
at 5:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: Wisconsin -2.5
Total: 50.5

The Badgers fell apart in the second half of their 34-21 Big Ten title tilt loss against Ohio State after winning their previous four games. Oregon pulled off a huge, 37-15 upset of Utah in the PAC-12 championship. After getting past the defensive-minded Utes, I’m going with Justin Herbert to get it done again against Wisconsin in a thriller!

Dec. 30
Orange Bowl
Virginia (9-4) vs. Florida (10-2)
at 8:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: Florida -13.5
Total: 54.5

Virginia won nine games this season, but the Cavaliers got spanked in their crushing 62-17 blowout loss against Clemson in the ACC title game to snap a four-game winning streak. Florida closed out the regular season by winning three straight including their 40-17 blowout win over rival Florida State in their finale. The Gators’ only losses this season have come against elite opponents (LSU and Georgia). Florida covers the two-touchdown spread with room to spare!

Dec. 28 Cotton Bowl
Penn State (10-2) vs. Memphis (12-1)
at 12:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: Penn State -7.5
Total: 60.5

Memphis has won seven straight and the Tigers beat Cincinnati in back-to-back meetings, including a 29-24 win in the AAC championship game. Penn State pounded Rutgers 27-6 in their regular season finale. The Nittany Lions have far more overall talent on their roster and that’s why they’ll get it done in the Cotton Bowl while narrowly cover the spread.

Jan. 2
Gator Bowl
Tennessee (7-5) vs. Indiana (8-4)
at 7:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: Tennessee -1.5
Total: 49.5

Tennessee won its final five games to become bowl eligible, but each of those wins came against modest opponents in my estimation. Indiana has won five of seven and got past Purdue 44-41 in overtime in their regular season finale. The Hoosiers have been quite feisty in the Big Ten this season and I just don’t trust the Vols after the horrific football I saw from them this season!

Jan. 1
Outback Bowl
Minnesota (10-2) vs. Auburn (9-3)
at 1:00 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: Auburn -7.5
Total: 51.5

I don’t want to use the word choke, but Minnesota came up small when it mattered most by dropping two of their last three games when a potential playoff run was right in their sights. The Gophers also got spanked in their 38-17 Big Ten finale against Wisconsin. Auburn closed out the season with a pair of impressive wins, including their thrilling 48-45 win over Alabama in their finale. I like the Tigers to cap off their campaign in style!

Jan. 1
Citrus Bowl
Michigan (9-3) vs. Alabama (10-2)
at 1:00 PM ET
TV: ABC
Spread: Alabama -7.5
Total: 58

Michigan got blown out of the water in their embarrassing 56-37 regular season finale against Ohio State to snap a four-game winning streak. Alabama has dropped two of its last four including a heartbreaking 48-45 loss to Auburn in their finale. Simply put, I’m expecting the Crimson Tide to roll to a convincing win over the Wolverines.

Dec. 31
Alamo Bowl
Texas (7-5) vs. Utah (11-2)
at 7:30 PM ET
TV: ESPN
Spread: Utah -7
Total: 55

Utah got blasted off the field in their embarrassing 37-15 loss against Oregon in the PAC-12 championship game when a playoff spot was definitely on the line. Texas spanked in-state rival Texas Tech after dropping their previous two games and three of four. The Utes are the easy pick to take care of business in the Alamo Bowl!
